India sends rocket to Mars

India sends spacecraft to Mars

In India they have started their first spacecraft to Mars. Their hoping that the spacecraft will reach Mars safety. They planned to send the spacecraft to travel 300 days. The rocket had lifted off on Tuesday the 5th of November and it should reach mars  in September 2014.

People are asking whether  India should be spending $130 million on a space rocket when their country is one of the highest position for childhood malnutrition in the world.  We think that India should not have paid $130 million dollars just for a space rocket when their are many children that needs to be feed.

If their plan succeeds then India will be the fourth space agency to reach Mars.  What will you choose, spend $130 million on a spacecraft or save more children from dying of hunger?.

Visit to Grandpa's

Waking up with sun shining on his eyes he was so excited. Sam got ready because he was going to a different country. A few minutes later Sam was ready to go. Sam grabbed his bags and headed towards the van. “Be good when you get there ok,” sam’s mum exclaimed.
Sam rolled his eyes as his mum was talking to him.

They arrived at the airport. Sam and his mum took the bags inside. Sam said his goodbyes and went to check in. He went into the plane feeling really excited He looked outside The window I won't be seeing Australia in a while sam thought to himself.

About 3hrs later The plane landed Sam walked out and he saw his grandpa with all his cousins and aunties. They all welcomed him and took him to his grandpa’s house. Minutes later they arrived to a really big house, “who lives in here” Sam asked I do grandpa said. “You have a big house sam exclaimed,” Sam wondered what happened to his other house because that had all his memories from when he was little boy and how he remembered about the stories grandpa had been telling him from when he was in the army.

They walked in the house and Sam’s cousins took his bags into his room he was going to sleep in. As his cousin’s were doing that, Sam and his grandpa sat down on the couch. Grandpa wanted to tell him something. Grandpa looked really sad, that was when Sam knew it was going to be bad news.

“I am going to die soon because I am very sick that is why I called your mum to send you here, I know that you we have not spend that much time together,” Grandpa Explained, Sam’s smile was fading away. Tears started to pour down his face. “How long do you have to live,” Sam asked. Grandpa didn’t really know because his doctor didn’t tell him yet. Grandpa wiped Sam’s tears away and took him into The back yard. When sam was little Grandpa didn’t get to finish off the story of him in the army because Sam and his family moved to Australia. That was the saddest day grandpa have ever had.

Grandpa showed Sam the necklace his wife gave to him before he left to go to the army. “This means everything to me because this was my last thing that she gave me and that was the last day that I saw her.” Grandpa’s wife died 6 months after he left to go to the army. Sam felt really sorry for him.

6 months have almost past and Sam was having great fun with his Grandpa. It was 8 o'clock in the morning Sam heard heaps of noise, he wipe his eyes and went to check out what was happening. All his aunties and cousins were running in his grandpa’s room. Sam ran to his grandpa’s room knowing what had happened. His Grandpa was just lying on the bed. His grandpa have sadly passed away. His Aunties and cousin were all crying. Sam out of the room and walked  to the backyard and started crying.

The next day they did a funeral for his grandpa at the cemetery Sam’s mum came and sat next to him. Sam said a speech telling how much his grandpa did for him and how his  grandpa never gave up on him. After Sam finished his speech he laid the necklace that the grandpa said that it meant everything to him. When he sat down he heard a whisper but no one was there he knew it was his grandpa telling him that he did the right thing. Sam felt happy of himself to.

Halloween

Halloween first started like about in the 1900’s. Halloween was created at the time to celebrate dead people. Now Halloween was turned into a holiday for children.

Halloween was first celebrated by the ancient Celts Who were around 800 B.C, as the festival of Samhain that marked the end of  harvest and the beginning of winter, when the Celts believed that spirits of the dead returned to earth.

Halloween is celebrated around the world in different kinds of ways. Austrilia, New Zealand, canada and many more countries celebrate Halloween. In canada Halloween began with the arrival of scottish and irish immigrants in 1800’s.

All around the world children and many adults look forward to Halloween mostly children. Around the world and in diffrent religon some people do not celebrate Halloween because they don't believe in the histroy of Halloween. From my opinion Children love Halloween just because of the lollies. But what we don't know is the meaning of Halloween.

resturant problem

Kimberly pizza problem from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.

The Pizza Place in my town has three
tables of the same size. The Chicken
N Chips restaurant has four of the
same sort of table.
The Chicken N Chips can just seat 24
people. How many people can The
Pizza Place seat?
Now a third of the seats at The Chicken N Chips were
empty and a half of the places at The Pizza Place were
empty. If 18 more people wanted to eat out, how many

would have to be turned away from the two restaurants?

Move reflection

Think carefully about the message the you shared about “Love”.
Is your message clear? I
s your message entertaining and well made?
Think carefully about how you worked this week.
Did you collaborate well with your group and come up with plan that everyone worked on?
Did you focus your energy on creating an exceptional creation?

Write  at least 1 paragraph for each “hat”.
Post this on your blog.
Using De Bono’s hats is a great way to help you think about your tasks and learning.

Yellow Hat - The things I enjoyed
The thing that I enjoyed was working with my friends and Mr luifau. Mr Liufau was a great actor and mostly made us laugh. We loved co-operating together and having fun during the scenes. We had a great time talking and laughing during our plan. Sesalina, Kimberly, Dante and Turuhira worked really well and managed ourselves really well.

Black Hat - Which things didn’t I like.
Things that we did not like was that we did not pay attention properly on what my group was doing. We also never helped each other out, we also fight if we should lip-sync or not. We made up a rough ending which didn’t quite go well. But still we loved it and went on.

Green Hat - What was something interesting about this week.
The interesting thing about this week was that everyone in our group finished our work on time. We also worked together to make this movie very interesting. The interesting fact is that it’s our first time having a teacher in our class and also making a movie about ‘LOVE’.

White Hat - What did I learn.
The thing that i learned was filming in different kinds of ways like mid shot, wide shot, point view, wide shot, close up, extremely close and wide shot. We also learnt to remember to be nice and also enjoy ourselves. I learnt to be a good actor and not to fiddle around and not concentrating.

Blue Hat - What can I do better next time.

The thing that I can do better next time is help my friends by editing the movie so we can  have heaps of helping hands around instead of doing nothing.
